Charlie’s is one of my parent’s favorite restaurants, and they insisted that we visit during our latest trip. First impressions are good. The greeting was friendly and the seating areas were inviting. The service was good, and our orders were delivered quickly. That said, I though the food was fairly average for a ‘fancy’ French restaurant (with the notable exception of the She Crab Soup, which was excellent and better than The Pink House in Savannah in my opinion). But my (expensive) fish was overdone and dry. The accompanying beans were also over cooked and insipid. I thought the food did not overcome the nice atmosphere, but they rate an overall four stars due to the service.
Carlie's L'etoile Verte is among our most cherished restaurants on Hinton Head Island. The moment we stepped inside, the staff provided remarkable service, with our server delivering an extraordinary experience through their attentiveness and knowledge. The food, a key part of our wedding anniversary celebration, was absolutely delicious, with the chocolate dessert standing out. What truly made the evening special, however, was the outstanding service from both our server and the entire staff, creating a memorable experience.
Were booked online so were seated promptly. The noise level had us having to lean into each other to hear our conversation. We didn’t order alcoholic drinks & noticed how our server seemed to cater to the tables that did, whereas we only received service when necessary. We had ordered a club soda & it sat empty for a while, then was refilled mainly with ice, as if it was a bother to refill. So as to service, go somewhere else. However, the food was delicious. Their Duck & Monkfish are worth ordering again! We found the Espresso bitter but their desserts were perfect. The Berry Cobbler was presented beautifully along with their Creme Caramel. And we enjoyed every bite. Would we come back? Yes for the food. But probably no for the service.
